Complex Polynomials
By: Sheil-Small, T.; Bollobas, B.; Fulton, W.; Katok, A.; Kirwan, F.; Sarnak, P.
Published by: Cambridge University Press
This book studies the geometric theory of polynomials and rational functions in the plane. The theory is carefully constructed bearing in mind the needs of graduate students. Several unsolved problems are presented as well as the full solutions to some well known conjectures.

Computation and Logic in the Real World
By: Cooper, S. Barry (ed.); Lowe, Benedikt (ed.); Sorbi, Andrea (ed.)
Published by: Springer
This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the Third International Conference on Computability in Europe, CiE 2007, held in Sienna, Italy, in June 2007. The 50 revised full papers presented together with 36 invited papers were carefully reviewed and selected from 167 submissions. Among them are papers corresponding to 12 plenary talks and papers of 8 special sessions entitled doing without turing machines: constructivism and formal topology, approaches to computational learning, real computation, computability and mathematical structure, complexity of algorithms and proofs, logic and new paradigms of computability, computational foundations of physics and biology, as well as a women in computability workshop.

Computational Acoustics of Noise Propagation in Fluids
By: Marburg, Steffen (ed.); Nolte, Bodo (ed.)
Published by: Springer
The book provides a survey of numerical methods for acoustics, namely the finite element method (FEM) and the boundary element method (BEM). In particular, the FEM is often used for interior problems whereas BEM is quite popular for exterior problems. This book shows that both methods can be effectively used for many other cases, FEM even for open domains and BEM for closed ones. Emphasis of the book is put on numerical aspects and on treatment of the exterior problem in acoustics, i.e. noise radiation. Numerical aspects cover the use of different types of elements, discussing the rule of using a fixed number of elements per wavelength and iterative solution techniques for the arising system of equations. Fast boundary element techniques and multi-domain BEM are discussed in this context too. Exterior problems in the context of finite elements will survey different techniques of treatment such as infinite elements, absorbing boundary conditions and perfectly matched layers. Further, the fields of frequency-range solutions by Lanczos via Pade approximation and modal solutions are covered. In the context of BEM, the so-called irregular frequencies are considered. This is followed by considering sound propagation above an impedance plane, formulation of spectral elements, a method for treatment of thin radiators and radiation modes. Both chapters conclude with sections on fluid-structure interaction, on inverse problems and on energy methods, respectively. Finally, the book discusses future challenges in the field of numerical methods in acoustics.

Computational Algebraic Geometry
By: Schenck, Hal; Series, C. M.
Published by: Cambridge University Press
The interplay between algebra and geometry is a beautiful area of mathematical investigation. Recent advances in computing and algorithms make it possible to tackle many classical problems in a down-to-earth and concrete fashion. This opens new vistas and allows us to pose, study and solve problems previously out of reach.
